SAN ROQUE PARAYAN FESTIVAL

This annual festival commemorates the Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of San Roque, Northern Samar. The grand celebration is an ultimate gesture of thanksgiving in honor of Señor San Isidro de Labrador and God Almighty for the bountiful harvest and blessings He has generously endowed the hardworking farmers and people of San Roque. It is also the day that showcases the different agri-fishery products of the Municipality thru the Agri-fair Contest participated by the different farmer’s Organizations from all the Barangays of the Municipality. “PARAYAN”, a Waraynon word which means bountiful rice harvest is depicted through a dance ritual presented by the different Barangays as they pay tribute to the Patron Saint of the Farmers, Señor San Isidro de Labrador. The dance moves to the sound of the drums and other musical instruments as it unfolds the stories of our glorious past, the traditional farming methods and the rich cultural feritage of San Roque.
