MARIA ANA G. ABALON, MD, MPH

Personal Background:
Maria Ana G. Abalon, was born on the 23rd of June in the year 1961, in the town of Catubig, Northern Samar. She is one of the children of the couple Dr. Sixto A. Gaborni and Mrs. Piedad Robis-Gaborni. Maria Ana G. Abalon completed her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1981 and she pursue her Doctor of Medicine Degree at the University of Sto. Tomas – College of Medicine and Surgery, finishing it in 1987 and had her Post Medical Internship at UST- Hospital from 1987 to 1988 and subsequently passed the Medical Licensure Board Exam given on the same year. She also earned her Master of Public Health from the University of the Philippines in 1996. Maria Ana G. Abalon got married and tied the knot with former Mayor of San Roque and now Board Member Don L Abalon of the Province of Northern Samar. Mayor Ate Me-An as she is at present called- by San Roquenhon, served as a Rural Health Physician at Rural Health Unit of LGU Laoang in 1991 to 1994. She eventually worked as a Medical Specialist at the PHO – Technical Division in the Province of Northern Samar with concurrent function as Chief of Hospital at Catubig District Hospital, Catubig, Northern Samar. Later on, she was promoted to Public Health Officer I within the same agency from 2002 to 2005 up to her appointment as Public Health Officer II from the year 2005 to 2018.
Political Career:
She continued to serve in public service as Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member after winning the 2019 election in the Province of Northern Samar for a period of one term. In May 2022 election, Mayor Ate Me-An succeeded her husband the former Mayor now Board Member
